Born in the city of Macapá, state of Amapá, Vânia holds a master's degree in Communication, Language and Culture. Professor at the Department of Education since 2004. She has worked in the area of curation and research in Arts, participating in selection juries, awards and salon organizations throughout Brazil. Among them, it is worth highlighting the first edition of Biennial of Amazonias, in 2023; Jury of the Residency Program of Inclusartiz Institute – Rio de Janeiro in 2022; Judging Committee of 32nd CCSP Exhibition Program –São Paulo Cultural Centre 2022; Selection Committee of 24th Anapolino Salon of Art – in 2019; Rumos Itaú Cultural edition 2011, 2015, 2016 and 2017. She was, also in 2017, a curator nominated for PIPA award.
Vânia Leal has been an interlocutor of Elaine Arruda's poetics for some years and is curating the 2023-2024 edition of Mastarel project. She lives and works in Belém, being a curator of great importance in the art scene in northern Brazil. Recently, she became Director of special projects at the Cultural Centre Biennial of Amazonias – CCBA.
