Mastarel project started its pre-production period for 2023-2024 Edition in June 2023, with meetings, planning and team formation.
On September 4, 2023, restoration work began on the roof of Salt Port Market, by repairing all leaks, and replacing, cleaning, painting the tiles. Architect Leno Martins supervised the work, and the master builder was João Aires, who is also one of the artists proposing the project. The work team was composed by residents of Salt Port, who took the NR35 safety course for working at heights and received all PPE to carry out the work.

During the fortnightly meetings held between Mastarel’s project team and the community, we decided to do the Washing of Salt Market after the completion of the roof renovation.
The action was carried out on October 18, 2023, with the aim of preparing it for the Market's internal painting. The project contacted SESAN (Belém Sanitation Department) to assist with the washing including the participation of its own team, stallholders, residents of Salt Port and collaborators engaged in the action.
